Project

Puerto Rico offers diverse experiences for American travelers that are affordable and easily accessible without the need for a passport. It caters to history buffs, culinary enthusiasts, adventure seekers and families. Changes in traveler preferences along with negative press surrounding the economic situation and the Zika virus threatened the island’s top industry of tourism. The tourism office tasked us with increasing tourism to Puerto Rico through building consumer and trade media relationships and securing high-profile media placements. Through strategic media relations, we acted as primary information facilitators to assist in featuring the island in various travel articles. We also led the global public relations efforts, managing activities in multiple Hill+Knowlton offices in addition to collaborating with an integrated multi-agency team.

To position Puerto Rico as the All-Star Island, we executed PR tactics including:

  • Ongoing News Bureau + Content Creation
  • Media Tours in New York City and Priority Travel Markets
  • Familiarity Press Trips
  • Executive Positioning
  • Event Support
